Is there anything better than a Ramones song? Each one is a perfectly manufactured piece of hard candy made out of insatiably delinquent lostness and the inexplicable swagger of a gang of bored, horny, 16 year old, punk ass kids who could give a fuck.
I’ve been rolling this piece of candy around in my mouth for years.
Then one day I gave it a whirl on my acoustic guitar, and this version came out of me. On the surface, it sounds REALLY DIFFERENT than Ramones version, obviously. But it’s the same at the core. Their version is when you’re 16, lost, bored and looking for something better to do… longing to feel something more… alive but knowing that it aint gonna happen. My version is when it’s 30 years later and you’re still mostly lost, bored, and looking for something to do.
I WANNA BE SEDATED
Written by Dee Dee Ramone, Joey Ramone, Johnny Ramone
Twenty twenty twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, no where to go o,
I wanna be sedated
Just get me to the airport, put me on a plane
Hurry hurry hurry, before I go insane
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my brain
Oh no oh oh oh oh
Twenty twenty twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, no where to go,
I wanna be sedated
Just put me in a wheelchair, get me on a plane
Hurry hurry hurry, before I go insane
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my brain
Oh no oh oh oh oh
Twenty twenty twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, no where to go o,
I wanna be sedated
Just put me in a wheelchair, get me to the show
Hurry hurry hurry, before I go loco
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my toes
Oh no oh oh oh oh
Twenty twenty twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, no where to go o,
I wanna be sedated
Just put me in a wheelchair, get me to the show
Hurry hurry hurry, before I go loco
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my toes
Oh no oh oh oh oh
Ba ba baba, baba ba baba, I wanna be sedated
Ba ba baba, baba ba baba, I wanna be sedated
Ba ba baba, baba ba baba, I wanna be sedated
Ba ba baba, baba ba baba, I wanna be sedated

Confession: I like broken shit. I’m just drawn to it. Always have been. I like it even more if it used to be shiny,
beautiful, innocent or full of promise. See, the way down is so interesting to me. The way it actually happens, why it happens, the little details that break off as it’s happening....more
